NYC water-main break floods subways, streets
Subway service has been restored following a water main break in Greenwich Village Wednesday night.

NEW YORK (KABC) -- Water has been restored to a Greenwich Village neighborhood in New York City after a water-main break that flooded the area and nearby subway lines.

The 12-inch main broke around 7 p.m. Wednesday under 175 W. 13th St. About 500 people had to be evacuated from a subway train underground, but service on the 1 and 2 lines was running again by 5 a.m.

There were no reports of injuries.

The New York City Fire Department has requested DEP emergency crews and Con Ed Gas to the scene.
