Oxnard parking lot shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was killed and a woman injured following a shooting in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant in Oxnard early Monday.

Oxnard police responded to a call of a shooting victim at Oxnard Boulevard and 7th Street at about 1:30 a.m.

Responding officers located a 35-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of kin.

Oxnard police later responded to a call of a second shooting victim at a Denny's restaurant. The 35-year-old female victim told officers she had been shot in the leg at Oxnard Boulevard and 7th Street, where the male victim had been shot.

The relationship between the two victims, if any, remains undetermined. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unknown.

The shooting marks Oxnard's tenth homicide of 2014 and the fourth in the last five weeks.
