PALMDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Palmdale woman and her boyfriend were charged Wednesday in the beating of the woman's 22-month-old toddler, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office announced.

The toddler is currently on life support in critical condition, the D.A.'s Office said, after abuse suffered between June and August.

Rosie Lee Wilson, 20, and Brandon Jerel Williams, 24, are charged with one count each of assault on a child becoming comatose, torture and mayhem. Williams is also charged with one count of attempted murder. Wilson is charged with one count of child abuse.

The toddler suffered great bodily injury by Williams between June and August, according to Deputy District Attorney Theodore Swanson.

Williams and Wilson were held on more than $2 million bail. They both face multiple life sentences if convicted on all charges.

Arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday but was continued to September 9 in Antelope Valley.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Palmdale Station.
