PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway following an officer-involved shooting in Pasadena Sunday. No officers were injured, and no arrests have been made.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of La Tierra Street and Avocado Lane at 3:18 a.m.

Pasadena police say the officer involved contacted a suspect who was seated in a car. The suspect began to drive away, and then attempted to retrieve a handgun. That's when the officer opened fire, police said.

It's unknown if the suspect was injured. He fled the scene.

Nearby streets were closed as police investigated and collected evidence. A suspect description was not immediately available.
