Pedestrian killed in Pico Rivera hit-and-run crash; driver sought
Investigators said a woman, possibly homeless, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Pico Rivera.

PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- The search is on for the driver responsible in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Pico Rivera.

The incident occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday near Whittier Boulevard and Lindsey Avenue.

According to deputies, a driver in a dark-colored, mid-size truck struck and killed a person crossing the street, then kept going.

Investigators said they don't know if the victim was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash. The victim's identity was withheld, pending notification of relatives.

Officials believed the woman may have been homeless.

"The victim is African American she is approximately 70 years old and she is possibly homeless," Det. Jose Marquez with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.

Detectives said they spent the morning interviewing witnesses and checking security cameras from businesses nearby.
