HOLLYWOOD (KABC) -- A pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after being struck by two vehicles in Hollywood Saturday.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue around 1:40 a.m.

The victim, identified as a man in his late 40s, was attempting to cross the street outside a crosswalk when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle and thrown into the path of a second vehicle.

Both drivers remained at the scene. The driver of the first vehicle was arrested for driving under the influence. The driver of the second vehicle was cited.
