Pedestrian struck, killed on 10 Freeway; driver sought

BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on the 10 Freeway in the Boyle Heights area.

The California Highway Patrol said it received a call around 1:44 a.m. Thursday about an animal on the roadway on the eastbound 10 Freeway, north of the Mission Road onramp.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the body of a person on the right shoulder of the freeway, west of State Street.

Investigators say the pedestrian was struck and killed by an unknown driver who did not stop. The identity of the victim has not been released.
