Person struck after driver rams into Laguna Niguel federal building
A pedestrian was struck Thursday night after a driver rammed into a federal building in Laguna Niguel.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (KABC) -- A pedestrian was struck Thursday night after a driver rammed into a federal building in Laguna Niguel.

Orange County sheriff's deputies responded to the 24000 block of Avila Road at about 4:33 p.m. after receiving a call of a vehicle vs pedestrian on federal government property, sheriff's officials said.

Both the driver and the pedestrian were transported to nearby hospitals in unknown condition, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. FBI officials said the suspect was later taken into custody.

The FBI said they were investigating the incident as a vehicle assault at a federal building but would not confirm whether the suspect was disgruntled or angry at the government.

Bomb squad and Homeland Security officials were investigating the scene and later cleared the area.
