PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man died after being shot in Pico Rivera on Thursday, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a call of a shooting in the area of Whittier Boulevard and Acacia Avenue at 6:28 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Pico Rivera Station.

The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was transported to Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m., sheriff's officials said.

The investigation has revealed that the male victim was walking with another man and his girlfriend when they started arguing. The second man then pulled out a gun and shot the victim, officials said.

Deputies detained the suspect, who is in his late 20s, and his girlfriend, believed to be in her 40s, and recovered a revolver, according to the sheriff's department.

The victim's name has not been released, but he is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old.
