SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are searching for the men responsible for using a skateboard to seriously injure a man in Santa Clarita.

Jacob, the man who was attacked, described being injured when one of the strangers smashed a skateboard over his head.

"A dull, like really hard jarring hit to the top of my skull," he said.

The incident started with Jacob riding the bus after having some drinks on Cinco de Mayo. He got off the bus near a skate park, which was closed for the night.

He said he approached a group of guys to ask for directions. They told him to leave them alone. Then all of the sudden he was hit.

"I instantly started trying to defend myself, but I just was out," he said.

Jacob eventually crawled across the street covered in blood where a driver noticed him and called 911. His lower jaw was shattered and is now wired shut. He also required 17 staples on his skull.

"I'm never going to fully recover," he said.

Detective Dan Finn with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Jacob's injuries were consistent with someone who was assaulted by multiple people.

Detectives said the incident was not captured on camera so there is no clear description of the assailants. They are hoping that someone saw something and can relay that information.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Finn at (661) 799-5153 or contact "L.A. Crime Stoppers" at (800) 222-8477.
