Rivera Middle School in Pico Rivera canceled due to threat
Rivera Middle School in Pico Rivera was canceled on Wednesday due to a threat that was phoned in.

PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- Rivera Middle School in Pico Rivera was canceled for the day due to a threat that was phoned in early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the Pico Rivera Sheriff Station received a threat targeting Rivera Middle School from an unidentified male around 6 a.m.

The school was closed while the threat was investigated. The campus was cleared at about 10 a.m., but school activity was still canceled for the day.

Rivera Elementary School, which is located on the same campus, was also closed due to the threat.

Streets in the area were closed due to the investigation.

School was expected to resume on Thursday.
