The 19-year-old accused of shooting and killing Tammy Meyers in a road rage incident earlier this February made his first court appearance today, according to ABC News.

Eric Nowsch Jr., who has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and illegal discharge of a gun, did not speak as an officer ushered him into a Las Vegas courtroom on Monday. The teen was shackled at the waist, wearing a blue prison uniform with tattoos visible on his chest and arms.

The court scheduled a preliminary hearing for March 10 at 9 a.m., after a lawyer for Nowsch told the judge he needed time to subpoena additional evidence in the case, including video recordings. No discussion of bail or a plea took place, according to ABC News.

Nowsch's lawyer previously told ABC News in an exclusive interview that the teen may have been the target on the night of the shooting. "The facts seem to point to self-defense in this situation," defense attorney Conrad Claus said. "It seems to explain the facts we have in front of us more sensibly than any other explanation."

After Nowsch was arrested after the shooting, Meyers' husband, said that his wife knew the teen suspect.

"We know this boy. I couldn't tell you this before. He knew where I lived," Meyers told reporters outside the courthouse. "We know how bad he was, but we didn't know he was this bad, that he's gotten to this point."
