JOSHUA TREE, Calif. (KABC) -- A San Bernardino deputy sheriff was arrested for having sexual relations with female inmates at a Joshua Tree jail, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Brian Derryberry was arrested on Friday after sheriff's officials received tips that the deputy sheriff was engaging in sexual acts with an incarcerated woman at the Morongo Basin Station jail.

The allegation led to an investigation from the Specialized Investigations Division. Detectives then found evidence indicating Derryberry had sexual contact with numerous inmates in the same jail.

Derryberry was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for sexual activity with a confined consenting adult and oral copulation.

He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Derryberry, who was a member of the department since April 2014, is no longer with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, according to sheriff's officials.
