SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Santa Ana police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a Check Into Cash store Tuesday.

The incident took place at the store located on the 1600 block of East 17th Street at 4:45 p.m. Police say the suspect asked about a title loan for a 1996 U-Haul commercial truck.

He left the business, telling clerks he needed to find his co-signer, and returned a short time later. That's when he pulled a small black revolver, pointed it at an employee, threatened to kill her and demanded cash.

"The employee placed an undisclosed amount (of money) into a small pink child's backpack carried by the suspect," according to a police statement.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, between 35 to 40 years old, standing between 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, clean shaven with short black hair.

He was last seen wearing a white and blue baseball cap, brown sunglasses, a yellow, brown and blue long-sleeved flannel shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery was urged to contact Santa Ana police Detective P. McClaskey at (714) 245-8328 or call Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
