SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A motorcyclist ejected after rear-ending a vehicle on the southbound 55 Freeway in Santa Ana and a Good Samaritan who pulled over to help were injured after a DUI driver struck them.

Police received a call around 12:50 a.m. Sunday about an accident north of Warner Avenue in Santa Ana. A motorcyclist rear-ended a vehicle in the number 5 lane and was ejected near Ritchey Street.

A Good Samaritan pulled over to help and was on the phone with emergency responders when another car struck them both.

The Good Samaritan suffered moderate to severe injuries and was expected to survive. The motorcyclist suffered major injuries, mostly from the first accident.

The driver who struck the pair was arrested for driving under the influence.
