SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Santa Ana store clerk was injured after attempting to stop a man from fleeing in a car with a stolen cellphone in early August.

At 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 4, a man walked into Cell Stop in the 3300 block of South Bristol Street. He asked the store clerk if he could see a cellphone. Once he saw the phone, he grabbed it and ran out of the store.

The clerk, Ramiro Ledesma, chased after him and then the confrontation outside was caught on surveillance camera.

The suspect jumps into an open passenger side window of a getaway car as Ledesma tries to pull him out. The driver attempts to flee the scene, but ends up crashing into the side of a silver SUV.

The driver quickly backs up and flees through a small opening between the SUV and another car, injuring Ledesma as he is crushed between the two cars. Luckily, Ledesma wasn't badly hurt.

Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said the department is relying on the community to provide them with information on the identity of the two suspects.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the Santa Ana Police Department.
