SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. (KABC) -- The search is on for three men who stole boxes of merchandise from a Santa Fe Springs warehouse in broad daylight.

The manager of the warehouse told Eyewitness News that two of the suspects walked up the loading ramp Tuesday afternoon and asked an employee if the company was hiring.

The employee said the company was not hiring, but the two men kept coming back. At one point, they even asked to use the bathroom.

On the fourth time, the suspects arrived with a van and managed to pile in 36 cases of merchandise before speeding off.

"The retail value is around $40,000-$60,000," said Matt Cruz, the sales manager of Guangjing Co. "The ports are closed. We're not getting any new merchandise in. We have four containers stuck out in the ocean, and those cases are viable to our company."

The company specializes in custom-made hats. The manager said they do not have an employee permanently stationed in the warehouse but they check on it every 10 minutes.
