DANA POINT, Calif. (KABC) -- A search continued Wednesday for a swimmer who disappeared during rough waters in Dana Point more than a week ago.

Dive teams from Orange County Lifeguards and the sheriff's department deployed off the coast of Salt Creek Beach around 8 a.m. to try to locate the body of the 60-year-old man, who went missing while body surfing on Aug. 24.

A recovery effort had been called off the weekend the swimmer went missing because of poor visibility and rough ocean conditions, officials said.

Authorities have not released the name of the man, only saying he was from out of state.
