Search underway for 91-year-old driver with dementia

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Silver Alert was issued on Los Angeles freeways after a 91-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia went missing.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Apolonio Gomez may be driving a silver 2013 Honda Accord with license number 6YGH760.

Officials said he was last seen in the 5500 block of Marmion Way in Highland Park at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Gomez's family said he's in need of medical care. He was described as a Hispanic man standing around 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 135 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a blue polo shirt, gray jeans, gray and black tennis shoes, a black jacket and prescription glasses.
