CHINATOWN, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police are searching for three suspects suspected of shooting a security guard in the arm during a robbery at a jewelry store in Chinatown Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at Kim Phuoc Jewelry near N. Broadway and Alpine Street at about 11 a.m.

Witnesses said two armed men entered the jewelry store and at one point got into a shootout with the security guard.

The two men then fled and got into a maroon SUV with a third suspect, heading northbound down Alpine Street. The SUV was then found abandoned three blocks from the crime scene.

It was unclear if the men got into a second getaway car or fled on foot. One of the suspects could be wounded, according to police.

The glass windows of the jewelry store were shattered and riddled with bullet holes. A description of the suspects was not immediately available.

The investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
