Shooting in front of Rosemead motel leaves 1 dead

SAN GABRIEL, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was found shot to death in front of a Rosemead motel early Friday morning.

Authorities received reports of a shooting around 11:47 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Del Mar Avenue. When they arrived, the man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses said at least two men were seen running from the scene, but it was unclear if they were involved in the shooting.

During the investigation, authorities learned the shooting started when two members of different gangs got into a fight. There were three male victims and four male suspects who were identified in the shooting.

Two other victims were not injured, police said. Another suspect was seen driving away from the motel in a white sedan. The other three men fled on food and one was arrested a few blocks away from the scene.

The investigation was ongoing.
