LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police have released a sketch of the suspect accused of robbing and trying to kidnap a UCLA student last week.

Authorities say the woman was walking west on Ophir Avenue toward Veteran Avenue when she was approached by a suspect on May 6. The man demanded the victim's property, and then reached into her sweater pocket to steal her cellphone.

The suspect forced the woman into a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, and lifted her shirt. At that point, she was able to use her pepper spray on the suspect and escape.

The suspect was described as an Asian man between 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short spiky hair. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, light-colored jeans and a cloth necklace. Police say he had no facial hair, and no tattoos were seen.

The suspect's vehicle had a jade pendant hanging from the rear-view mirror.

Anyone with information is urged to call UCLA police at (310) 825-1491.
