HEMET, Calif. (KABC) -- Hemet police detectives arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the deaths of a man and women found in a mobile home.

Authorities responded to a call of shots fired at Hemet West Mobile Estates at 8:05 a.m. Thursday. Two people, identified as 71-year-old Michael Underwood and 68-year-old Laura Underwood, were found dead inside their mobile home.

"It kind of blew me away, you know, this is a nice quiet community, we're not supposed to have this kind of stuff," said neighbor Joe Diaz. "I walked outside and I heard bang, bang, bang, bang and then a couple seconds later, bang, bang, bang."

After nine hours of investigation, detectives located and detained the victims' son, David Michael Underwood of Yorba Linda, in Anaheim at about 5 p.m. He was arrested for the deaths following questioning.

David Underwood is being held on $1 million bail.

A motive has not yet been determined. Anyone with information is urged to call Hemet police at (951) 765-2400.
