LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A new survey underscores the childhood obesity epidemic across Los Angeles County. To fight it, health officials want to cut sugary drinks from kids' meals.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has launched a new campaign, encouraging parents to find creative ways to get their kids to drink more water.

According to the survey, Los Angeles holds the highest obesity rate among children ages 0-5. One in four young children in the same age range have one or more sugary drinks a day.

The survey also shows that the childhood obesity rate among Latino and African-American children is significantly higher than any other ethnic group.
