Suspect attempted to steal fanny pack from elderly woman near Rose Bowl

PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man attempted to rob an elderly woman as she was walking with her husband around the Rose Bowl in Pasadena Saturday.

The elderly couple were walking around the Rose Bowl when the suspect suddenly approached them near Rosemont Avenue and Arroyo Boulevard.

According to authorities, the suspect tried to wrestle a fanny pack from the woman, who is in her 70s. During the struggle, she fell to the ground and suffered minor cuts to her arms.

The suspect failed to steal the fanny pack and quickly fled the scene when the couple began yelling for help.

The couple, who are Glendale residents, said the suspect ran away along Arroyo Boulevard and got into a bronze, four-door older-model car.

The suspect is described as a black man between 20 to 30 years old. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build and a dark complexion. He was wearing a black baseball hat, black jacket and dark jeans.
