Homicide detectives investigated the murder of a man found stabbed to death near a Circle K in Temecula.

TEMECULA, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect wanted in the murder of a man near a Temecula gas station was tracked down and found hiding in a restaurant bathroom, officials said.

Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said they responded to a fight at the Circle K on Temecula Parkway at about 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

When deputies arrived, they found a man stabbed to death in a field next to the gas station.

Officials said a K9 team picked up the scent of the suspect and led deputies to a bathroom in a restaurant about a mile away from the crime scene.

The sheriff's department said the suspect, a man who was not identified by officials, was found hiding in the bathroom and detained.

Authorities stated a woman with the suspect was also detained.

The male suspect was arrested and held on $1 million bail. Officials said the woman was not arrested.

Homicide detectives did not provide a motive for the fatal stabbing or the victim's identity.
