Thieves steal thousands worth of frames from OC optometrists

ORANGE, Calif. (KABC) -- Thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of designer frames from an Orange optometry practice, just 24 hours after another similar burglary took place in the same area.

Surveillance video shows two men crashing through the front door of Orange Circle Optometry early Monday morning, then scooping designer eyeglass and sunglass frames into a bag and laundry basket.

"Everything was stripped. You could see everything on the floor. What was there was our ornaments, displays. Everything was thrashed," said Dr. Alex Romero of Orange Circle Optometry.

Romero says the men walked away with $20,000 to $30,000 worth of merchandise and the office computer.

The men worked quickly, as if they knew exactly what they wanted. That's what bothers Romero the most.

"That's what hurts. We're thinking to ourselves, this person's probably been in here looking out and planned it out," Romero said.

The break-in came just 24 hours after someone broke into Anaheim Hills Family Optometry, just 10 miles away.

The burglar or burglars took about $4,000 worth of frames.

"Very frustrating. Anybody that would undergo something like this, you feel violated. This is your personal space," said Dr. Harry Charm of Anaheim Hills Family Optometry.

Though both crimes happened around a similar time, police can't say if they're connected.

"All of our analysts will share information that will go on in this case as well," said Lt. Bob Dunn, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.

Both optometrists hope someone steps up and helps police catch those responsible.

"If they want it, I know they'll be back. You just have to identify the persons so it doesn't continue,"

Anyone with information is asked to call Anaheim or Orange Police Department.
