Tracy Morgan to Host 'Saturday Night Live'

Tracy Morgan is returning to TV about a year and a half after he was involved in a serious car accident.

The comedian will host "Saturday Night Live" on Oct. 17, a representative for the show confirmed to ABC News.

"Stoked to be going home... #SNL," he tweeted today.

The new season of "SNL" will begin on Oct. 3, when Miley Cyrus returns to host. The next Saturday, Amy Schumer will make her hosting debut.

This is a triumphant moment for the actor, who, in June 2014, was riding in a vehicle that was struck by a Walmart truck. He sustained broken bones and what his lawyer called "a traumatic brain injury," while one of his friends, comedian James McNair, was killed.

"He's fighting to get better, and if there's a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he's going to try to do that," his attorney, Benedict Morelli, said late last year. "We just don't know because of the severity of the injuries that he sustained."

Last week, the National Transportation Safety Board found that Kevin Roper, the driver of the Walmart truck, had been awake for more than 28 hours. An NTSB investigator said that fatigue played a role in the crash, as did the fact that Roper was driving 20 mph over the construction zone's speed limit of 45 mph.

A lawyer for the trucker told ABC News he planned to dispute the NTSB's findings.
