Video shows importance of keeping purse close, even at supermarket

ROSEVILLE, Calif. -- Surveillance video posted by police in a city outside Sacramento is highlighting just how important it is to keep your purse close and in your possession at all times.

In the video posted on Facebook you see two women shopping in a Roseville grocery store. When one has her back turned away from the cart the other casually walks past her, goes into her purse, takes her wallet and walks off. The footage is dated Aug. 26.

Police say this woman is connected to at least four similar thefts in grocery stores throughout Roseville since February.

"Watch this grocery store purse pirate in action -- this is why it's so important to keep your purse closed and under your control," the Roseville police department posted on its Facebook page.

"Never leave it out of your sight on the back of your chair in a restaurant or in your grocery cart, even for a few seconds."
