SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A driver was taken into custody Tuesday morning after a dramatic police chase ended on a street in South Los Angeles.

The pursuit began around 5:45 a.m. when a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white car driving on the right shoulder of the westbound 105 Freeway.

A chase ensued, making its way from the freeway onto surface streets where authorities initially executed several unsuccessful PIT maneuvers.

After the driver turned onto Century Boulevard, just west of Western Avenue, a CHP officer in a patrol car struck the sedan in a PIT maneuver that brought the pursuit to an end.

Multiple Highway Patrol vehicles surrounded the suspect, who was then taken into custody without incident.
