OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A possibly suicidal woman was taken into custody after leading Los Angeles police and CHP on a pursuit through Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties Thursday night.

LAPD officers tried to stop the female driving a white SUV near a motel in the area of Roscoe Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue in Winnetka at about 9:40 p.m. Officers had been notified that she was possibly a danger to herself and were responding to check on her welfare. When the woman failed to yield, a pursuit ensued.

The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit when it reached the southbound 405 Freeway near LAX in Hawthorne. The pursuit continued through Carson, Long Beach and Seal Beach.

At about 11 p.m., the driver entered the 5 Freeway and headed southbound through San Clemente and into San Diego County.

At one point, the woman could be seen hanging out of her car window. The pursuit ended in Oceanside when the suspect stopped on the freeway and exited the vehicle with her hands up. She was taken into custody after failing to yield at about 11:35 p.m.
