SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was killed in San Bernardino Monday night.

Police say the victim called 911 around 11 p.m. to report that she had been shot. According to investigators, the call cut off and police had to trace her cellphone, which took 25 minutes.

The track gave an approximate location. Police then canvassed the area on foot and eventually found an apartment with a shattered sliding glass door.

The victim, 26-year-old Michelle Miers, was located at the Edgehill Apartments on the 100 block of West 43rd Street. Officers say there was evidence that she may have also been stabbed. Miers was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

It remains unclear if the victim was stabbed, shot or both. Police say Miers has children, but they were not home when the crime occurred.

Neighbors say they didn't hear anything.

"I have a baby and to know that I didn't hear anything that went on, it's even a little bit more scary," said neighbor Sara Loza.

Investigators say the killing does not appear to be random and they have an idea about who the suspect is. According to detectives, Miers was shot in a domestic dispute last month with an ex-boyfriend. The suspect remains in custody for that incident, police said.

A vigil was planned for Miers at 6 p.m.

Anyone with information was asked to call San Bernardino police at (909) 384-5742.
