2 dead after separate shootings in Inglewood; uncertain if related
Shawn Pryor, 52, was shot and killed at a motel in Inglewood on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people were found dead in separate shootings a few miles apart in Inglewood on Tuesday and police are trying to determine if the killings were related.

The first shooting happened at 2:45 a.m. when a 52-year-old man, Shawn Pryor, was shot to death at King's Motel on Imperial Highway.

Friends and family gathered outside the motel later Tuesday to console his wife, who was believed to have witnessed the killing. Pryor was described as a kind man with children who had last worked in construction.

Later Tuesday morning, a woman was found shot to death in a car in Inglewood. Her body was found in the driver's seat of a silver Volvo parked in a lot along the 7900 block of Van Ness Avenue.

Forensics teams and other investigators combed through evidence at the scene.

The coroner left around 10:30 a.m., and the vehicle was towed away.

Inglewood police said the woman was shot to death but did not provide any further details.

It's unknown when the woman was shot, or whether she was shot at another location and brought to the Van Ness location where she was found.

The woman's identity was not immediately released.

Pryor's brother said he believes the two killings were related. Police would only say they are investigating both deaths as homicides.
