RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A 10-year-old girl decided to bring Christmas cheer to dogs at the Riverside County Animal Shelter.

Lucy Rios, her 8-year-old sister Emily, and their mother Olivia, all of Lake Matthews, brought toys for the dogs. Lucy had asked Santa for presents for the pups and she got her wish.

Both Lucy and Emily were participants in Critter Kiddz Camp, a two-week camp that teaches children about various animals and gives them experience with shelter dogs. The two girls attended the camp earlier this year.

The Rios family brought several big bags of toys to make sure there was enough for every pooch. More than 500 toys were donated.

Lucy said she doesn't like to see animals sad and she's glad she could bring some joy to the canine's lives.
