TAMPA, Fla. (KABC) -- An adorable 2-week-old clouded leopard is making good progress and doing well at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo.

The endangered animal was born March 7 at only 300 grams. At last check, the male newborn weighed in at 760 grams. Zoo officials say his eyes are completely open, he is becoming more alert and he has started to crawl and scoot using his front legs.

Zoo officials say the kitten is very vocal, particularly during feeding time.

The kitten is the first to be born to the zoo's clouded leopards Yim and Malee, who are almost 4 years old.

According to the zoo's website, clouded leopards are native to Southeast Asia and are found in forests and rain forests. High levels of hunting and poaching have made the species vulnerable to extinction.
