VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA (KABC) -- Mail carriers are used to encountering overzealous pets, but one mail carrier in Canada probably never expected to be greeted by a bear.
The mail carrier left a note instead of a package that was scheduled for delivery at Matthew Fane's Vancouver home.
The note was left at the mailbox. It had the "other" box checked, with an explanation that simply said: "Bear at door."
Fane found the note and tweeted a picture of it with a message that said: "Fair enough. That's a decent reason not to drop off the package at my door."
Two days later, he also tweeted out a photo of the bear taken by the spooked postal worker.
In a show of good humor, he used #bearmail #MeanwhileinCanada in his tweets.
"A black bear is very common," Fane told ABC News. "They don't really bug anyone, as long as you don't bug them."
Fane was able to pick up his package Tuesday night.
