Best squirrel videos for 'Squirrel Appreciation Day'

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Thursday was Squirrel Appreciation Day. The day was started in 2001 by a wildlife rehabilitator because, at this time in the middle of winter, food is scarce for the animals.

So to show our appreciation for the furry critter we have our top three favorite squirrely moments.

1. Squirrel joins tennis match

A women's doubles match had to be delayed as a furry fan made its way onto the court. The squirrel interrupted the third-round match, although players took it all in stride.

It eventually made its way into the crowd, where a brave security guard tried to catch it.

2. Panda gets rude awakening

A squirrel got the best of a panda bear at the Toronto Zoo. It had an unexpected visitor in its cell and was awoken by the animal, which was all captured on the panda cam.

The panda looked annoyed at first, but after a few seconds it just went back to sleep.

3. Meet Twiggy the water skiing squirrel

One of the best videos is of a superstar named Twiggy who loves to be on tiny water skis.

Twiggy, who makes appearances nationwide at boating and travel shows, is also an international social media sensation.

His videos have been viewed millions of times online and shown millions of times on television newscasts. He also brings a serious message to kids in the audience by always wearing a life jacket in the water.
