Missing cat
Roy Dufek is asking for help after he accidentally sold his girlfriend's cat.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Roy Dufek hopes there's still some Santa magic out there. He needs help finding a cat after it went missing in a bizarre way.

UPDATE: Camo has been reunited with his owners! Read the amazing story here.

"I messed up and sold my gf's cat by accident," Dufek posted on Reddit, where he is now asking for help finding it.

How did it happen?

Dufek says he was just trying to help by selling a mattress.

"My girlfriend and I are moving into a new apartment and while she was at work I helped her out by selling the two beds she had in her apartment," he explained on Reddit.

He didn't know his girlfriend's cat, Camo, liked to hide in the bed.

And Camo did just that when the buyer showed up.

Dufek had no idea, even helping the buyer get the mattress to the car.

When his girlfriend, Hayley Crews, couldn't find Camo, she put two and two together.

"Right away I knew he had hidden in the box spring. It was an old hiding place that I had taped up. I un-taped it to sell the bed and he freezes and he doesn't meow. I'm sure that's where he was," said Crews.

The couple contacted the buyer, but Camo is nowhere to be found.

They believe he jumped out of the box spring before it got to the buyer's home.

They're now offering a $200 reward to anyone who locates their cat, but he's been missing for over a week now. Dufek said they were overwhelmed by the response and the help looking, but he posted another update to say that his girlfriend is trying her best to accept that the cat might not be found.

"If you've ever owned an animal I ask that you understand how unbelievably devastating this is," he said.

"We will always offer the reward," he said in his most recent post just before Christmas. "This will be my last update for now as we gotta spend our time enjoying family."
