Curious bear cub gets stuck in cookie jar

RINGWOOD, N.J. (KABC) -- A curious bear cub in New Jersey was just trying to eat some animal crackers when he got his head stuck in a jar and had to be rescued.

Officials say the 6-month-old bear had been searching through trash when it found a jar of animal crackers in Ringwood, near the New York border, on Friday night. He tried to eat what was left, but he apparently pulled the jar over his head and couldn't get it off.

The frightened cub scurried up a tree, but it got wedged about 40 feet up. Rescuers tranquilized the 28-pound cub, brought it down and cut the jar off.

The bear was taken to a rehabilitation facility for treatment.
