SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KABC) -- Los Angeles County Fire Department lifeguards rescued a stranded dolphin at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro Saturday morning.

Officials helped keep it alive by pouring water over it until Marine Animal Rescue, a non-profit animal advocacy organization, arrived.

With a little help from some civilians, they were able to move the dolphin off the beach.

The dolphin was transported to a care center at Fort MacArthur for treatment and later taken to SeaWorld San Diego in stable condition.
