A dog in Missouri got a reprieve from animal shelter death row after her original owners were found three years after she went missing.

Mayhem was found a few weeks ago as a stray and taken to the Springfield Animal Shelter.

When she was initially scanned for a microchip, it didn't show up. However, right before she was set to be euthanized, a rescue group tried one more time and found it.

Mayhem, it turns out, had been on the run for more than three years, traveling thousands of miles from her home in Arizona.

She is now happily back in her owners' arms.
