'Sleepover at the Shelter' in Downey aims to increase adoptions
The 'Sleepover at the Shelter' event in Downey aims to raise funds and awareness for the many pets waiting to be adopted into a loving home.

DOWNEY, Calif. (KABC) -- The "Sleepover at the Shelter" event in Downey aims to raise funds and awareness for the numerous pets waiting to be adopted into a loving home.

The shelter has many dogs, cats and other animals that need homes.

You can help by pledging money to support the volunteers taking part in this event. Get more information at www.SleepoverAtTheShelter.com.

The funds raised will go toward providing free spaying and neutering for pets in under-served communities.

The sleepover began Friday morning. The big adoption event is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The event will feature reduced adoption fees, free goody bags for adopts, food trucks and face painters.
