It takes some effort to lure the poor dog -- who looked beastly with tangled and dreaded fur. When food doesn't work, the man in the video slowly corners him until he has the opportunity to put a leash on him. Immediately, the dog becomes terrified, screaming and biting the man's hands.
"After surviving the rough streets for so long, he was frightened of human touch," writes Hope for Paws in the video.
After a few gentle pets, the dog is miraculously pacified, frozen by the man's compassion.
The couple takes the dog to Hope for Paws, a non-profit animal rescue organization in Los Angeles, where he receives treatment. His fur is so badly damaged from the elements of the streets that almost all of it has to be shaved off.
The dog, later named Theo, still seems to have a broken spirit. He appears visibly depressed even as the couple continues to soothe him with love.
A little while later, though, Theo comes around once he's put into foster care. Two weeks after that, Theo is seen playing with his new dog friends and finally resembling what every dog should be: happy.
Currently, Hope for Paws is trying to find new parents for Theo, hoping that the attention from the above video will get him adopted soon. Please share so Theo can get a new home.
