OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Former President Bill Clinton is campaigning for Democratic candidates in California on Wednesday.

He is headlining a get-out-the-vote rally in Ventura County at Oxnard College's gymnasium.

The rally is in support of Rep. Julia Brownley, who is up against Afghanistan war veteran and local prosecutor Jeff Gorell, a moderate former state lawmaker, in the fight for the Ventura County seat.

The former president is also campaigning for Democratic Reps. Raul Ruiz and John Garamendi.

The event was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tickets are required to attend.

Clinton is also set to attend a similar event in support of Rep. Ami Bera at University of California, Davis.

Bera is in one of the closest and most expensive congressional races in the country. He is facing former Rep. Doug Ose in a district Bera won by just 2 percentage points in 2012.

Clinton is a prized surrogate for Democrats in swing districts who need help motivating voters.
