LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A rainbow pride flag flew over the Civic Plaza in Long Beach on Friday, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples have the right to marry in every state.

Mayor Robert Garcia, the city's first openly gay mayor, hailed the decision, saying love, freedom and equality have won.

"To know that I can marry my partner and that would be as equal and as legal anywhere across the country is a really special day," Garcia said.
