LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Today is your final chance this year to catch the partial solar eclipse, which is happening now through early evening. In fact, people across North America will be treated to the event.

You can watch the partial solar eclipse on Griffith Observatory's live stream page.

The Griffith Observatory is offering telescopes for those who want to watch the celestial event.

At 2:07 p.m. PT, the moon began to block the sun and will gradually build to its height at 3:27 p.m. PT. The event ends at 4:39 p.m. PT.

You must wear protective eye gear when viewing a solar eclipse. Otherwise, it can cause permanent eye damage.

A partial eclipse will take place Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014. Make sure you protect your eyes with special filters to avoid injury.
