Activists fighting to preserve Venice church

VENICE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Community activists came out again this weekend to stop developers from turning the old First Baptist Church of Venice into a private residence.

The church, built more than a century ago, has historically been the center of Venice's African-American community.

The group is involved in an ongoing legal battle trying to have the church preserved as a historical monument to the community.
