Black Friday shopping also boosting online
For many shoppers, Black Friday means sacrificing part of Thanksgiving Day to scour the hottest deals, but this year, online shopping is also expected to see a boost in sales.

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. (KABC) -- For many shoppers, Black Friday means sacrificing part of Thanksgiving Day to scour the hottest deals, but this year, online shopping is also expected to see a boost in sales.

At any one given time, there are 25,000 items inside of a Newegg Inc. warehouse in the City of Industry.

Newegg owns a total of eight warehouses, and on a day like Black Friday, electronic items of all kinds are "rolling" out at a record pace.

"What we've realized is that with the advance of online shopping, people can begin to do their holiday shopping as early as November, even October," said Merle McIntosh, Newegg Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing.

The second biggest day of the year for the company is coming up -- Cyber Monday.

"Going into Black Friday, we broke records on Monday, we broke records on Tuesday. So far, week-to-date, we're up high single digits and yesterday, we were up almost 25 percent year over year," McIntosh added.

It's pretty good for an e-commerce business that competes with other on-line giants.

A company like this one stand outs by providing all kinds of customer service including same-day delivery and getting products like an HTC Vive into the hands of consumers.

A showroom is set up where shoppers can get tech support and pick up purchases.

For Javier Cortavitarte and his cousin it's also to buy a new computer.

"In this case, I'm helping my cousin invest in one," Cortavitarte said. "I figured the best place to go would be to go to a place like Newegg."

Cortavitarte said it's been four years since he's been to a Black Friday event and prefers shopping on sites like this.

"Our site is up, it's never down," McIntosh added. "It's fast and so you can get in and get out with a few clicks and within a few days, your package is on your doorstep."

It's essentially creating a whole different kind of Black Friday tradition.
