LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- ABC7 meteorologist Bri Winkler was challenged by the Azusa Police Department to do 22 pushups to promote public awareness of the impact of suicide among America's veterans.

The nonprofit 22KILL hopes to honor those who have served our country and raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention through education and empowerment.

A 2012 study shows an average of 22 veterans commit suicide each day due to issues stemming from conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder.

Those challenged are asked to do 22 pushups or donate $22 to the cause.

Winkler completed the pushup challenge with Azusa Police Chief Sam Gonzalez.
