Cool Kid Ajhanae Favors builds homes for families in need

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Our ABC7 Cool Kid for Thursday, April 9, is Ajhanae Favors, who has found many ways to help her community.

It started when she was a client of Habitat for Humanity. Favors helped to build a new home for her family. Now, she helps other families achieve that same goal.

"If I can get to where I am, then I feel that other people can get to where I am or even higher," Favors said. "To see that other people can do well and not put people down, but to actually pull them up with me, it's mission accomplished."

Besides her work with Habitat for Humanity, Favors has worked on taking care of the homeless in her community.

"For school, we do food giveaways and we bring food for Thanksgiving. We bring canned food drives and just be there for a person when they need you," Favors said.

But it's more than just about giving them food, she wants them to know they are not forgotten.

"A lot of people just look at them and just keep walking," Favors said. "Me along with other people are actually stopping and trying to help them know that they're not by themselves."

Whether it's helping to build a home or helping those who don't have one, Favors brings hope and a caring attitude to everyone around her.

"I like helping people," Favors said. "Seeing the smiles on people's faces when you help them, it's just priceless."
